Description

IFRS Consolidation: Aggregating Accounts, Eliminations and Presentation

Build the core mechanics of IFRS group consolidation through a self-paced e-learning programme

  • 0.36 days — 2.5 h
  • In-person or virtual
  • Foundation
  • Up to 6 participants

Consolidated accounts remain opaque to many accountants and management controllers who contribute to them. They are asked to complete reporting packs, adjustments or variance explanations without ever seeing how these elements fit together. Reporting errors recur and closing timetables stretch out for want of an understanding of the overall process.

This two-and-a-half-hour e-learning programme sets out the core mechanics of consolidation under IFRS: scope of consolidation, consolidation methods, alignment adjustments, intercompany eliminations and non-controlling interests. Each mechanism is illustrated using a simple group followed throughout the programme.

Learning objectives

  • Determine the consolidation scope based on the control exercised
  • Apply the consolidation method corresponding to each type of control
  • Identify common alignment adjustments
  • Eliminate intercompany transactions and unrealised internal profits
  • Present equity attributable to the group and non-controlling interests

What makes this programme different

A single illustrative group runs throughout, from scope definition to the consolidated statements
Intercompany eliminations are covered entry by entry
The self-paced format allows each mechanism to be revisited as often as needed
