Description

IFRS for Insurance: Applying, Measuring and Presenting Sector Accounts

Translating insurance obligations into financial statements aligned with international standards

  • 2 days — 14 h
  • In-person or virtual
  • Expert
  • Up to 6 participants

The move to international standards has profoundly changed the way insurance accounts are read. Contracts are grouped according to new criteria, margin is released over the coverage period and assets follow a classification logic distinct from that applied to liabilities. Accounting and actuarial teams share data without sharing a common vocabulary.

These two days are designed for experienced professionals. Participants deepen their understanding of contract measurement, connect the treatment of assets and liabilities, build the presentation aggregates and then identify the judgement areas that must be documented.

Learning objectives

  • Position the architecture of the IFRS framework applicable to the insurance sector
  • Define the scope of contracts and group them according to the selected criteria
  • Apply the measurement methods for insurance contract liabilities
  • Align the classification of financial assets with the treatment of liabilities
  • Build the required presentation statements and disclosure notes
  • Identify judgement areas and document the positions adopted

What makes this programme different

One contract tracked from initial recognition through to its presentation in the notes
Accounting and actuarial vocabularies reconciled live during the session
A review of judgement areas with the supporting evidence auditors expect
