Description

IFRS Standards: Understanding the Framework, Reading the Statements and Applying the Key Standards

Understand the logic of the IFRS framework and identify where it departs from local statutory accounts

  • 2 days — 14 h
  • In-person or virtual
  • Foundation
  • Up to 6 participants

Moving to IFRS, or contributing to the reporting package of a foreign parent company, unsettles teams used to local statutory accounting practices. Some costs become assets, certain provisions disappear. Without an overall view, each person applies an instruction without understanding the reasoning behind it.

These two days provide a structured overview of the framework. Participants position the conceptual framework, read a complete set of international financial statements and work through the most frequent treatments: revenue, property plant and equipment, lease contracts and financial instruments. Each topic is illustrated by a simple quantified adjustment.

Learning objectives

  • Position the conceptual framework and the architecture of the international standards
  • Read a complete set of financial statements prepared under IFRS
  • Identify the main differences in treatment compared with local statutory accounts
  • Account for everyday revenue, fixed asset and lease transactions
  • Build the conversion adjustments required for group reporting

What makes this programme different

Each standard covered is compared with the corresponding local statutory treatment
Adjustments are built step by step on a single case study running through the programme
A reusable conversion sheet is produced for the most frequent transactions
