Description
Industrial Maintenance: Organising, Preventing and Improving Equipment Reliability
Move beyond purely reactive repairs and build a maintenance organisation that delivers on its commitments
- 2 days — 14 h
- In-person or virtual
- Foundation
- Up to 6 participants
The department spends its days putting out fires. One breakdown follows another, the spare part is missing at the worst possible moment, and production blames maintenance for stoppages that the team endures just as much. The preventive plan exists on paper, but it collapses as soon as an emergency arises.
Two days, delivered virtually, to rebuild a workable organisation: knowing your asset base and its criticality, building a preventive plan compatible with the production schedule, structuring the spare parts store, and using intervention history to improve the reliability of the most damaging equipment.
Learning objectives
- Rank the equipment in your asset base according to its criticality for operations
- Build a preventive maintenance plan and define its intervals
- Organise the spare parts store and its replenishment rules
- Record intervention history in a form that can genuinely be analysed
- Carry out a failure analysis through to root cause
What makes this programme different
Programme
1The maintenance function
What the organisation genuinely expects from the department
- Position maintenance within the availability of the production asset
- Distinguish corrective intervention from preventive intervention
- Measure the full cost of a stoppage beyond the repair itself
- Clarify the division of roles between production and maintenance
2Knowing your asset base
Without a reliable inventory, no plan holds
- Build an asset register covering equipment and its components
- Classify equipment according to its criticality for operations
- Compile the technical file for a machine
- Structure the store and identify safety-critical spare parts
3Building the preventive plan
Moving from unplanned to scheduled work
- Choose between time-based and condition-based preventive maintenance
- Define intervention procedures and their intervals
- Negotiate shutdown windows with production
- Hand first-line maintenance over to operators
4Analysing and improving reliability
Learning from every breakdown
- Complete an intervention report that can genuinely be used
- Carry out a failure analysis through to root cause
- Track availability and downtime
- Prioritise reliability actions according to their expected impact
Who is it for
Maintenance technicians and operatives · managers of industrial installations or buildings · production managers involved in the maintenance function.
