Description

International Logistics: Selecting Incoterms, Transport Modes and Providers

Organise an international shipment with full control over risk transfer and the true delivered cost to the customer

  • 2 days — 14 h
  • In-person or virtual
  • Foundation
  • Up to 6 participants

An international shipment involves several parties and just as many documents. An Incoterm chosen out of habit, a forgotten insurance cover or an incomplete customs document is enough to immobilise goods and wipe out the margin on the deal. Teams then find themselves handling a dispute governed by rules they do not master.

These two days build a complete view of the chain. Participants select the appropriate Incoterm, compare transport modes, assemble the documents required for both export and import, manage their service providers and calculate the delivered cost to the customer.

Learning objectives

  • Select the Incoterm suited to the product, the transport mode and the commercial relationship
  • Compare transport modes according to cost, lead time and the nature of the goods
  • Assemble the transport and customs documents required
  • Select and manage a freight forwarder or transport agent
  • Calculate the delivered cost of a shipment to the customer's premises
  • Handle a transport dispute and activate insurance cover

What makes this programme different

Risk and cost transfer is worked through on a single shipment followed end to end
Participants compare real freight forwarder quotations for the same requirement
A reusable delivered-cost calculation sheet is built during the session
