Description

ISO 14001 Internal Environmental Audit: Prepare, Conduct and Report

Conducting internal audits that move the management system forward rather than simply checking documents

  • 2 days — 14 h
  • In-person or virtual
  • Intermediate
  • Up to 6 participants

Internal environmental audits often come down to a paperwork review: the existence of procedures is confirmed without anyone checking whether actual practices follow, and the same findings reappear year after year. Auditees endure the exercise and the management system gains no real improvement.

Two days to professionalise internal audit practice against the requirements of ISO 14001: preparation focused on the site's environmental issues, conducting interviews and on-site observations, formulating findings and reporting results. The programme addresses audit practice, not the design of the management system itself.

Learning objectives

  • Prepare an audit based on the environmental issues and risks of the scope being audited
  • Build an audit plan and interview guide focused on actual working practices
  • Conduct interviews and on-site observations while gathering objective evidence
  • Formulate substantiated findings and classify them according to their nature
  • Report results and monitor the effectiveness of the actions taken

What makes this programme different

Audit interviews are role-played with reluctant auditees then reviewed step by step
Each participant prepares the audit of a real process from their own organisation
Written findings are reworked collectively until they are fully defensible
