Description

Jira Software for Beginners: Creating Issues, Tracking Sprints and Reading Boards

Track an agile project in Jira without getting lost between issues, boards and filters

  • 2 days — 14 h
  • In-person or virtual
  • Foundation
  • Up to 6 participants

When a team moves onto Jira, it usually inherits a tool that someone else configured. Issues pile up without being updated, statuses no longer reflect the actual state of the work, and everyone quietly keeps tracking their tasks in a parallel spreadsheet. The indicators displayed by the tool then become figures that nobody trusts.

Two days to make the tool genuinely usable day to day: create and qualify an issue, organise the backlog, prepare and run a sprint, build your own filters, then read the indicators generated automatically. This programme remains at team-user level and does not cover project configuration.

Learning objectives

  • Create and qualify the different issue types used in a project
  • Organise a backlog and prepare the content of a sprint
  • Track sprint progress on a Scrum or Kanban board
  • Build filters and searches suited to your own needs
  • Read the tracking indicators generated by the tool

What makes this programme different

A practice project fed by every participant, from the first issue through to sprint closure
Building custom filters and then an individual dashboard
Handling the situations that undermine tracking, such as duplicates and frozen statuses
