Description

Personal Organisation: Sorting Your Inputs, Keeping Your Lists and Working with Greater Calm

Three hours to bring order to scattered tasks, messages and notes

  • 0.43 days — 3 h
  • In-person or virtual
  • Foundation
  • Up to 6 participants

Commitments are written down everywhere and therefore nowhere. Some sit in the mailbox, others in notebooks, others again in your head. Nothing is truly forgotten, but nothing is truly secure either, and that uncertainty drains energy throughout the day.

Three hours in a virtual classroom to build a simple personal organisation system that holds over time. You bring all your commitments into a single collection point. You learn to process your inbox without turning it into a task list. You put in place the short routines that keep the system up to date week after week.

Learning objectives

  • Bring all commitments together into a single collection point
  • Process incoming messages according to one consistent decision rule
  • Maintain a task list written as immediately actionable steps
  • Establish a weekly review to keep the system up to date

What makes this programme different

You empty your inbox during the session, working on a real sample
A tool-independent method that works on paper as well as online
A weekly review slot booked into your calendar before the end of the course

Programme

1Gathering What Is Lying Around

One single place for everything

  • Mapping all the places where current commitments are recorded
  • Setting up a single collection point
  • Handling items awaiting an external response
  • Distinguishing between information to keep and action to take

2Processing Messages Without Getting Lost

The inbox is not a task list

  • A decision rule applied to every message opened
  • What to do with messages that can be handled in under two minutes
  • Light filing that avoids folder sprawl
  • Setting a rhythm for checking messages during the day

3Keeping the System Alive

Short routines rather than one big clear-out

  • Wording tasks as action verbs that can be carried out without further thinking
  • Separating today's actions from the rest of your commitments
  • The weekly update review
  • Restarting the system after a period of neglect

Who is it for

Team members, administrative support staff, technical specialists and managers who wish to make their personal organisation reliable, whatever tools they work with.
