Description

Process Communication Model Level 2: Sharpening Your Reading, Adjusting Your Stance and Re-Motivating

Three days to turn your reading of personality profiles into concrete management decisions

  • 3 days — 21 h
  • In-person or virtual
  • Intermediate
  • Up to 6 participants

You have identified the personality types within your team, but the theory stays in the binder. In meetings, the team member who shuts down, the one who piles up objections or the one who rushes a file still catches you off guard. Knowing the vocabulary of the model is not enough to adjust a difficult conversation in real time.

These three days focus on the managerial use of the model: spotting signs of tension as they appear, adjusting the way you announce a decision and meeting each person's needs without it consuming your day. Every sequence starts from real situations brought by participants.

Learning objectives

  • Identify, in real situations, the verbal and non-verbal indicators specific to each personality type
  • Adapt your managerial phrasing to the communication channel that suits each team member
  • Recognise observable signs of tension in a team member and respond appropriately
  • Conduct a performance correction conversation taking your counterpart's profile into account
  • Build a tailored motivation action plan for each member of your team

What makes this programme different

Each participant works on three real management situations submitted before the session
Debriefed practice sequences to identify your own markers under tension
A formalised intervention plan for each team member completed on the final day

Programme

1Revisiting your profile from a managerial angle

What your personality structure changes in the way you lead

  • Reviewing your inventory through a managerial reading grid
  • Identifying your spontaneous communication channels
  • Recognising the types with whom you communicate with difficulty
  • Listing the team situations where the mismatch shows up

2Recognising profiles in professional situations

Decoding what is at play in a meeting or a corridor exchange

  • Language and posture indicators associated with each type
  • Listening to extracts and collectively identifying the markers
  • Distinguishing surface behaviour from the underlying need
  • Common labelling errors and how to avoid them

3Adjusting your communication person by person

Saying the same thing differently depending on the listener

  • Choosing the communication channel suited to the request
  • Rephrasing an instruction for three different profiles
  • Adapting your managerial writing and short messages
  • Running a weekly check-in according to the team member's profile

4Managing situations of tension

Getting out of an exchange that has stalled

  • Early signals that a team member is becoming unavailable
  • Behaviours under tension and the sequences they trigger
  • Managerial interventions that defuse rather than fuel
  • Managing your own reactions when the exchange hardens

5Building your team motivation strategy

Sustaining each person's energy over time

  • Needs to be met for each profile and signs that they are unmet
  • Allocating assignments and team rituals according to profiles
  • Preparing your next one-to-one conversations
  • Formalising an action plan for each team member

Who is it for

Managers and team leaders who have already completed an initial introduction to the model and wish to apply it in their one-to-one conversations and team meetings.
