Description
Procurement Performance with Digital Tools and AI: Equip, Analyse and Steer
Generate real value from digital tools and AI without mistaking equipment for performance
- 2 days — 14 h
- In-person or virtual
- Intermediate
- Up to 6 participants
Procurement functions are investing heavily: sourcing platforms, paperless workflow tools, assistants built on artificial intelligence. The promises are broad, the rollouts are long and users often revert to the spreadsheet. Without a clear view of what the tool is meant to improve, IT spend simply adds to costs without shortening lead times or making data more reliable.
Two days to connect tools to performance outcomes: map the procurement process and its friction points, establish what digital tools and AI genuinely handle, prepare the data without which nothing works, and build a dashboard that supports decisions.
Learning objectives
- Map the procurement process and its friction points
- Establish the genuine contribution of digital tools at each stage
- Identify artificial intelligence use cases applicable to procurement
- Prepare the data quality required to make the tools work
- Build a decision-focused procurement dashboard
- Lead change with buyers and internal stakeholders
What makes this programme different
Programme
1The Procurement Process Under Scrutiny
Knowing what you are trying to improve
- Describe the chain running from requirement through to payment
- Measure lead times and rework at each stage
- Identify low value-added tasks that absorb buyers' time
- Prioritise the friction points to be addressed first
2The Tool Landscape
What each building block actually handles
- Position sourcing, contracting and ordering tools
- Distinguish paperless processing from genuine automation
- Assess integration with the existing management system
- Set the selection criteria for a procurement solution
3Data and Artificial Intelligence
Nothing works without clean data
- Structure a usable procurement category taxonomy
- Handle duplicate supplier records and inconsistent descriptions
- Identify AI use cases for spend analysis and sourcing
- Set safeguards for usage and confidentiality
4Steering and Driving Adoption
From indicator to decision
- Select cost, lead time and supplier quality indicators
- Build a dashboard that senior management can read
- Organise the upskilling of users
- Track the gains achieved after rollout
