Description

Professional Intelligence Gathering and AI: Select, Summarise and Share What Matters

Two hours to turn an unmanageable flow of information into short summaries that are genuinely read

  • 0.29 days — 2 h
  • In-person or virtual
  • Foundation
  • Up to 6 participants

Sources pile up in the browser favourites and newsletters accumulate unread. Monitoring happens in bursts, whenever time allows, and important developments are discovered too late, through a third party. The sorting effort ends up costing more than the information itself.

Two hours in a virtual workshop to bring method back into your monitoring activity and to use artificial intelligence at the stages where it genuinely saves time. You define the scope to be tracked. You generate summaries from long documents. You build a short distribution format that your recipients will actually read.

Learning objectives

  • Define the scope and the questions your monitoring activity must answer
  • Assess the reliability of a source before adding it to your tracking list
  • Produce a structured summary from long documents
  • Build a short distribution format suited to your recipients

What makes this programme different

Each participant defines the scope of the monitoring activity they are actually responsible for
A summary produced live from a long document brought by the group
A distribution format tested on a typical recipient at the end of the workshop

Programme

1Defining the scope of your monitoring activity

Knowing what you are looking for before collecting

  • Framing the questions your monitoring activity must answer
  • Setting the scope and identifying the themes to leave aside
  • Identifying reference sources and spotting weak ones
  • Collection rhythm and the weekly time genuinely available

2Analysing and summarising

From the long document to the short note

  • Extracting what is new from a substantial document
  • Structuring a summary by issue rather than by source
  • Comparing several sources on the same subject
  • Checking factual elements before including them in the note

3Distributing and sustaining your monitoring activity

Information that arrives at the right moment

  • Choosing format and frequency according to recipients
  • Writing a summary that makes readers want to open the source document
  • Filing the items you keep so that you can find them later
  • Adjusting the scope in the light of recipient feedback

Who is it for
