Description

Project Contributor: Understanding Your Role, Cooperating and Meeting Commitments

Two days to contribute effectively to a project without leading it and to secure your own deadlines

  • 2 days — 14 h
  • In-person or virtual
  • Foundation
  • Up to 6 participants

Being called upon to work on a project while still reporting to your own department creates constant tension: requests from the project manager arrive without clear priorities, deadlines overlap with day-to-day activity, and commitments made in meetings later collide with real workload.

These fourteen hours are designed for contributors rather than project leaders. They clarify what is expected of a project contributor: understanding the framework and the vocabulary, estimating your own workload, meeting your delivery commitments and raising the alert at the right moment. Overall project steering is covered only to help you position your contribution.

Learning objectives

  • Position your role and responsibilities within a project organisation
  • Interpret the project steering documents shared with you
  • Estimate the workload of your own tasks and negotiate your deadlines
  • Report progress in a way that genuinely supports project steering
  • Raise the alert on a risk or a delay while action is still possible

What makes this programme different

The programme is built from the contributor's perspective rather than the project manager's
The situations addressed focus on balancing day-to-day activity with project tasks
Each participant leaves with a personal method for estimating workload and raising alerts
