Description
Prompt Writing: Formulating, Clarifying and Refining Your Instructions
Obtain better results from generative AI by giving close attention to the wording of your request
- 0.43 days — 3 h
- In-person or virtual
- Foundation
- Up to 6 participants
Disappointing results from a conversational assistant rarely come from the tool itself. They come from a vague instruction, an imprecise verb, a badly placed negative or a string of requests with no clear order of priority. The quality of the wording directly determines the quality of the answer.
Three hours in a virtual classroom to treat prompt writing as a writing exercise in its own right. Participants learn to choose the right verb, structure their request, make the expected context explicit and rephrase when the response misses the mark.
Learning objectives
- Formulate an instruction using a precise action verb
- Structure a request by separating context, task and expected format
- Identify ambiguous wording that produces off-topic responses
- Rephrase an instruction on the basis of an unsatisfactory response
- Build a library of reusable instructions
