Description

Responsible AI: Framing, Deciding and Overseeing Usage as a Decision-Maker

Take a clear position on AI usage within your scope without hiding behind technical arguments

  • 0.43 days — 3 h
  • In-person or virtual
  • Intermediate
  • Up to 6 participants

Teams are already using generative assistants and vendor approaches are multiplying. The decision-maker must rule: which uses are authorised, which data may leave the organisation, who answers if a faulty output reaches a client. Without an explicit framework, everyone decides alone and the organisation discovers the problems after the fact.

In three hours online, this session gives executives and management committee members the reference points they need to decide: risk levels by use case, human control points to impose, drafting an acceptable use charter, and the questions to ask before approving a deployment.

Learning objectives

  • Classify AI use cases within your scope according to their level of exposure
  • Identify situations that require human validation before release
  • Set out the usage rules expected from teams in a short charter
  • Ask the right control questions of a vendor or a project team
  • Allocate responsibilities between the business, IT and compliance

What makes this programme different

Decisions are worked through on the use cases actually present in participants' organisations
An acceptable use charter template is completed during the session
A list of questions to put to vendors is built collectively

Programme

1Understanding What Is at Stake in an AI Decision

What the decision-maker commits the organisation to

  • Types of use cases encountered and expected effects on business functions
  • Output errors, bias and vendor dependency
  • Data entrusted to the model and consequences for clients
  • Chain of responsibility between the business and the service provider

2Deciding Use Case by Use Case

Scaling control to the level of exposure

  • Assessment grid based on the criticality of the assisted decision
  • Uses to leave open, to frame or to prohibit
  • Human control points and records to retain
  • Conditions to be met before any move into production

3Setting the Framework and Keeping It Alive

Turning decisions into readable rules

  • A short acceptable use charter that teams can understand
  • Escalation route for new use cases
  • Control questions to put to vendors and project teams
  • Review cycle for the decisions taken

Who is it for

Executives, management committee members, function heads and entity managers called upon to authorise or refuse AI use cases.
