Description

Training Project Manager: Designing, Steering and Evaluating a Learning Project

Turn a vague training request into a scoped, budgeted programme evaluated on its real impact

  • 2 days — 14 h
  • In-person or virtual
  • Foundation
  • Up to 6 participants

A training request rarely arrives expressed in terms of skills: it comes as a catalogue order to be placed or as the response to an incident. The project then starts with no needs analysis, no evaluation criteria and no commitment from managers. Sessions take place and then nothing changes in day-to-day practice.

These two days structure the management of a learning project from analysing the request through to measuring its effects. Scoping the need, selecting delivery formats, drafting the specification, choosing providers, steering the roll-out and designing the evaluation framework are addressed in sequence. Each participant works on a live project.

Learning objectives

  • Analyse a training request and translate it into a skills need
  • Define learning objectives and the expected evaluation criteria
  • Select delivery formats suited to the target workplace situations
  • Draft a specification and select providers
  • Steer the roll-out and the budget of the programme
  • Measure the effects of training on professional practice

What makes this programme different

Each participant works on a live project from their own organisation throughout the two days
A complete specification is drafted and then reviewed critically by the group
The evaluation framework is built before content is selected
