Description

US GAAP Reporting: Understanding the Framework, Restating and Producing Your Group Reporting

Meeting the demands of a US parent company without getting lost between two frameworks

  • 2 days — 14 h
  • In-person or virtual
  • Intermediate
  • Up to 6 participants

The parent company imposes its accounting manual, its closing calendar and its own vocabulary. Local teams know IFRS and regional reporting practice, but not US GAAP positions. Every closing generates the same back-and-forth exchanges, and questions from group auditors remain unanswered and undocumented.

These two days are designed for experienced accounting professionals. Participants situate the construction of the US GAAP framework and the role of its standard-setting bodies, compare its positions with those they already apply on the structuring topics, organise their restatements and prepare the disclosures and controls expected by a group listed in the United States.

Learning objectives

  • Situate the architecture of the US GAAP framework and the role of its standard-setting bodies
  • Compare US GAAP and IFRS treatments on the structuring topics
  • Build the restatements required for your subsidiary's reporting
  • Prepare the disclosures and controls expected by the group
  • Document your accounting positions in view of the audit

What makes this programme different

Each topic is addressed by comparing the US GAAP position with the treatment already familiar to participants
An accounting position memo is drafted in the format expected by a US group
Recurring questions raised by group auditors are worked through in session
