Description

Visual Communication: Prioritising Information, Composing and Unifying Your Materials

Make a message readable at a glance where text alone takes far too long to get understood

  • 2 days — 14 h
  • In-person or virtual
  • Foundation
  • Up to 6 participants

A poorly composed document is easy to spot. Readers do not know where to start, colours clash, fonts change from one page to the next and the key message gets lost. Yet most teams produce posters, presentations and social posts every week without any shared graphic guidelines.

This 14-hour programme treats visual composition as a tool for clarity. Participants learn to prioritise information, then to select consistent colours and typefaces, before composing their own materials. The two days alternate short demonstrations with supervised production work.

Learning objectives

  • Prioritise the elements of a document according to the intended reading order
  • Select a colour palette consistent with the message conveyed
  • Pair two legible typefaces within the same document
  • Compose a poster and a social media post from a layout grid
  • Check the visual consistency of a series of materials

What makes this programme different

Each participant leaves with two finished materials ready for distribution
A reusable layout grid for the team's future materials
Corrections carried out directly on participants' existing materials
