Workplace Health and Safety Champion: Assessing Risks and Driving Prevention

Two days to take on the safety champion role with frontline teams and first-line supervisors

Safety champions are appointed without always being given the time or the method. They are expected to enforce instructions they did not write, with colleagues they work alongside every day. Reports of hazardous situations dry up when they go unanswered. The risk assessment register is updated far from the work as it is actually performed.

These 14 hours focus squarely on occupational health and safety. Participants learn to observe a workstation, rate risks, investigate an incident down to its root causes and run short prevention sessions. The environmental dimension is not covered here and is addressed in the health, safety and environment practitioner programme.

Practical details

Before the programme
Online positioning questionnaire. Your development objectives are shared with the trainer, who tailors the practical case studies to your context.
Teaching methods
Theoretical input, workshops and practical case studies. Digital course materials and method sheets provided.
Assessment
Multiple-choice tests and role-play exercises. Assessment of learning at the start and end of the programme, with immediate and 60-day follow-up evaluations.
After the programme
One year of access to the e-learning platform. Self-assessment of the skills acquired and a 30-day follow-up session with your trainer.
