Description
Workplace Mentor: Onboarding, Passing On Your Trade and Assessing Progress
Deliver effective mentoring without losing entire days to it and without leaving the new joiner to learn by watching others work
- 1 day — 7 h
- In-person or virtual
- Foundation
- Up to 6 participants
The new joiner is placed at a workstation and discovers the job by observation. Instructions arrive as the work comes in, mistakes are corrected without being explained, and the mentor often takes the task back for lack of time. When review time comes, no one can say precisely what has actually been mastered.
This seven-hour day equips the mentor. Participants learn to prepare the onboarding and build a progressive learning path, to pass on a professional practice using a simple method, to give useful feedback after a mistake and to assess learning against observable criteria.

- Build a progressive learning path over the duration of the placement
- Pass on a professional practice using a structured method
