Description

Year-End Close Phase 2: Completing the Review and Preparing the Financial Statements

Complete the account review and produce consistent, fully supported financial statements

  • 2 days — 14 h
  • In-person or virtual
  • All levels
  • Up to 6 participants

The final stage of the close is where the difficulties concentrate: accounts still unsupported, late year-end adjustments, notes to the financial statements drafted under pressure and consistency checks carried out after the fact. Auditor queries almost always focus on the same insufficiently documented balances.

Two hours to work through the second phase of the close: completing the review cycle by cycle, posting year-end adjustments, preparing the statement of financial position, the statement of profit or loss and the notes, then running final checks before handing over the file. This session follows on from the preparation and supporting-documentation phase.

  • Complete the review of cycles still open
  • Post year-end adjustments and cut-off entries
  • Prepare the statement of financial position and the statement of profit or loss from the reviewed trial balance
