Description

Situational Leadership: Diagnose, Adapt Your Style and Develop Your People

Adjusting your level of direction and support to each team member's actual level of autonomy

  • 2 days — 14 h
  • In-person or virtual
  • Foundation
  • Up to 6 participants

The same management approach does not produce the same effect on everyone. What reassures a newly appointed employee feels like micromanagement to an experienced professional, while autonomy granted too early to a beginner leads to mistakes, rework and time lost for everyone.

Over two days, you learn to diagnose an employee's level of autonomy on a specific activity, then select the matching mode of intervention. Practice sessions cover instructions, delegation, follow-up and the transition from one style to another as competence grows.

Learning objectives

  • Diagnose an employee's level of autonomy on a specific activity
  • Select the mode of intervention suited to the situation diagnosed
  • Frame instructions with a level of detail matched to the individual
  • Conduct a delegation discussion supported by agreed checkpoints
  • Shift your style as an employee's autonomy increases
  • Explain to your team why you do not manage everyone in the same way

What makes this programme different

The autonomy diagnosis is applied to real team members throughout the two days
A delegation matrix is completed activity by activity and then tested in role-play
Mistakes in balancing direction and support are analysed from the sequences played in pairs
