Description
Ethics and Management: Identifying Dilemmas, Making Judgement Calls and Standing By Them
A one-day virtual programme for handling management situations in which no option is entirely satisfactory
- 1 day — 7 h
- In-person or virtual
- Intermediate
- Up to 6 participants
Managers are sometimes faced with choices that no rule can settle. Should information shared in confidence be passed on when it affects the whole team? How should additional workload be distributed among people who are already stretched? These situations are often resolved alone and under time pressure.
This one-day virtual programme helps you build a consistent way of handling them. You learn to recognise a dilemma and to name the values that are in conflict. You apply a structured analysis method that makes your reasoning explicit. You also practise announcing a decision that will leave some people dissatisfied.
Learning objectives
- Recognise a dilemma behind a problem presented as purely technical
- Name the values and interests that conflict within a decision
- Apply a structured analysis method to a sensitive case
- Explain a decision to people it does not satisfy
- Define your own decision-making benchmarks and their limits
