Description
Managerial Leadership: Setting Direction, Leading by Example and Bringing the Team With You
Building influence founded on clarity of direction and consistency rather than on hierarchical position
- 2 days — 14 h
- In-person or virtual
- Intermediate
- Up to 6 participants
A manager can hold the same role for years without the team knowing where he or she intends to take it. Decisions then appear to be dictated by circumstances and priorities shift with every urgent matter. Each person retreats into their own remit and initiative disappears.
These two days address the personal dimension of the management role. Participants clarify what they want their team to experience, then work on how they express and embody it day to day. The programme deals with leadership exercised within a line-management structure, whereas the cross-functional programme addresses influence without authority.
Learning objectives
- Identify your dominant leadership style and its effects on the team
- Articulate a team vision that every team member can understand
- Adapt your stance to situations and to individuals
- Strengthen your credibility through consistency between words and decisions
- Develop autonomy and initiative within your team
