Description
Double Materiality: Identifying, Assessing and Prioritising Sustainability Matters
A workshop to produce a double materiality assessment that stands up to stakeholder scrutiny
- 1 day — 7 h
- In-person or virtual
- Intermediate
- Up to 6 participants
Double materiality assessment has become the starting point of sustainability reporting. Many organisations approach it with a long list of topics drawn from a generic framework, disconnected from their value chain and from the risks that genuinely weigh on their business model. The outcome is difficult to defend.
This one-day workshop runs through the method from end to end: value chain mapping, identification of impacts on the environment and on people, assessment of financial risks and opportunities, evidence-based scoring and materiality threshold. Each participant makes progress on their own matrix.
Learning objectives
- Describe the organisation's upstream and downstream value chain
- Identify actual and potential impacts on the environment and on people
- Assess the financial risks and opportunities attached to sustainability matters
- Score topics using a documented and repeatable scale
- Justify the threshold selected and the topics excluded from the assessment
