Description

Law Firm Communication: Publishing, Outreach and Professional Ethics

Build the firm's online visibility without crossing the boundaries set by professional conduct rules

  • 0.43 days — 3 h
  • In-person or virtual
  • Foundation
  • Up to 6 participants

The firm posts on social media, highlights case outcomes and responds to online enquiries. Yet professional conduct rules govern advertising, direct solicitation and the way competence is presented. Associates sometimes publish without the firm having agreed a clear line.

This three-hour virtual session clarifies what is permitted and what is not on websites and social media. Participants identify the applicable principles, review their own posts in that light and define internal rules shared across the whole team.

Learning objectives

  • Distinguish permitted communication from direct solicitation and prohibited claims
  • Draft a professional post that preserves confidentiality and the dignity of the profession
  • Present the firm's competence and results without misleading wording
  • Define internal publishing rules that apply to all associates
  • Respond to an online review that criticises the firm

What makes this programme different

Real posts from the firm are reviewed and corrected against professional conduct principles
An internal publishing charter is drafted during the session
The response to a negative review is worked on without disclosing any confidential information
