Description

FX Derivatives and Structured Products: Building, Pricing and Hedging Exposure

Build currency hedges from vanilla options through to tailored structured solutions

  • 2 days — 14 h
  • In-person or virtual
  • Intermediate
  • Up to 6 participants

Currency exposure cannot always be covered with a spot trade or a plain forward. Treasury teams ask for tailored profiles such as downside protection without giving up the upside, or a hedge at reduced premium cost. The challenge is to know exactly what the client is paying for and which risk remains on their books.

This short format deals exclusively with foreign exchange and is distinct from the sessions devoted to credit. You start from the forward and the vanilla option, then assemble the structured solutions most frequently requested. Each structure is broken down into building blocks and tested against rate scenarios.

Learning objectives

  • Break down an FX structured product into its underlying vanilla options
  • Price a simple hedge from observable market parameters
  • Compare the cost and risk profile of several alternative solutions
  • Explain to a client how the structure behaves under different rate scenarios
  • Identify the residual risks left with the client
