Description

AML/CFT in Banking: Screening, Monitoring and Documenting Transaction Flows

Apply AML/CFT requirements to day-to-day banking operations, from onboarding through to ongoing transaction monitoring

  • 1 day — 7 h
  • In-person or virtual
  • Intermediate
  • Up to 6 participants

Banks concentrate the main entry points for money laundering: remote account opening, international transfers, cash deposits, trade finance and correspondent banking relationships. Each channel calls for different controls, and both branch teams and back-office staff need to know exactly what to check at the moment a transaction is presented.

This one-day programme addresses AML/CFT from the perspective of banking roles. It follows the customer relationship from onboarding through to transaction monitoring: document verification, sanctions screening, flow monitoring, international transfers and cash handling. It also clarifies how front-line teams work with the compliance function when a case needs to be escalated.

Learning objectives

  • Carry out customer onboarding and verify the supporting documents required
  • Apply sanctions list screening and handle potential matches
  • Monitor transaction flows and identify activity inconsistent with the customer profile
  • Handle the specific requirements of international transfers and cash deposits
  • Escalate a case to compliance with the information needed for a decision
  • Position your role within the institution's internal control framework

What makes this programme different

Controls are addressed role by role, from the branch through to the back office
Sanctions screening and match handling are practised on real cases
The transactions studied are those participants encounter every week
