Description

Managing Your Emotions: Identifying What You Feel, Expressing It and Staying Composed

Two days to put words to your emotions at work and choose how to express them

  • 2 days — 14 h
  • In-person or virtual
  • Foundation
  • Up to 6 participants

At work, many people move between two responses: holding everything in until it spills over, or reacting in the heat of the moment and regretting it afterwards. In both cases the emotion was not identified in time, and the exchange leaves needless traces behind.

This 14-hour programme focuses on your own emotional functioning. Participants learn to recognise their emotions as soon as they arise, to identify the underlying need, to express them in a measured way and to recover after an intense episode. The work remains individual: handling conflict situations is covered in separate programmes.

Learning objectives

  • Name precisely the emotion felt in a work situation
  • Recognise the physical signals that precede an emotional surge
  • Identify the need expressed by an emotion
  • Express an emotion to another person without assigning blame
  • Postpone a reaction long enough to regain composure
  • Recover after an intense emotional episode

What makes this programme different

An emotional vocabulary built and applied to participants' own situations
Work on the early physical signals specific to each individual
Expression phrasing tested and then refined in pairs
