Description

Emotions at Management Level: Recognising, Regulating and Using Your Reactions

Three days to understand your emotional reactions and put them to work in your decision-making

  • 3 days — 21 h
  • In-person or virtual
  • Foundation
  • Up to 6 participants

Managers absorb pressure continuously: decisions challenged, deadlines met by a narrow margin, team conflicts that have to be settled. Some shut down every form of emotional expression and cut themselves off from useful information. Others react in the heat of the moment and cause lasting damage to working relationships.

This 21-hour programme treats emotion as a signal to be read rather than a problem to be suppressed. Participants learn to name what they feel, to recognise the management situations that trigger their strongest reactions, to regain composure before speaking up, and to acknowledge a team member's emotion without becoming overwhelmed.

Learning objectives

  • Name precisely the emotion experienced in a given work situation
  • Identify the management situations that trigger strong reactions
  • Apply a regulation technique before a difficult conversation
  • Express disagreement without aggression or withdrawal
  • Acknowledge a team member's emotion without minimising it
  • Use the information carried by an emotion to inform a decision

What makes this programme different

Role-play built from real management situations brought by the group
A daily slot devoted to regulation techniques before speaking up
A personal trigger map completed throughout the three days
