Description
Speaking Remotely: Capturing Attention, Structuring and Convincing
Holding your audience on a video call when no gaze confirms that your message is landing
- 2 days — 14 h
- In-person or virtual
- Foundation
- Up to 6 participants
On a video call, the speaker's usual reference points disappear. Cameras stay switched off, reactions are silent and attention dissolves into the other windows open on screen. Many professionals who are perfectly at ease in a meeting room find themselves speaking into a void, with no way of knowing whether their message is getting through.
Two days to regain control: adjusting image and sound, working the voice for the screen, tightening the message into short sequences, prompting interaction at regular intervals. Each participant practises on camera and leaves with their own personal settings.
Learning objectives
- Set up your image, framing and lighting for a remote presentation
- Adapt your pace and intonation to the constraints of the screen
- Structure a spoken message into short sequences suited to attention levels on video calls
- Prompt regular interaction to check that your message is landing
- Respond to a technical incident without losing the thread of your presentation
