Description

AI for Social Services: Supporting Case Processing, Improving Reliability and Safeguarding Data

One day to reduce the writing workload in social services and give time back to frontline support

  • 1 day — 7 h
  • In-person or virtual
  • Foundation
  • Up to 6 participants

Social services teams are overwhelmed by written work: assessment reports, interview records, notification letters. Case files keep growing, the same information is re-entered from one system to another, and time spent in front of a screen ends up exceeding time spent with the person being supported.

This 7-hour programme focuses on the day-to-day practice of social services staff. It identifies the writing and research tasks that artificial intelligence tools can lighten, and teaches participants how to frame usable instructions and how to review and rework a generated text. It sets out clear precautions for handling sensitive data and maintaining professional confidentiality.

Learning objectives

  • Identify the social services tasks that can be supported by AI tools
  • Write clear instructions to obtain a usable summary or letter
  • Check and correct a tool-generated text before it is issued
  • Protect the data of the people being supported in everyday use
  • Keep decisions and the support relationship under human responsibility

What makes this programme different

Hands-on trials based on anonymised social cases brought by participants
A library of reusable instructions for common professional documents
A written departmental rule on what must never be entrusted to a tool
