Description

Emotional Intelligence: Naming Your Emotions, Regulating Them and Speaking Up

Three hours to recognise your emotions at work and choose your reaction rather than be driven by it

  • 0.43 days — 3 h
  • In-person or virtual
  • Foundation
  • Up to 6 participants

One comment in a meeting and the tone shifts. A report delivered late and the irritation spills over onto the whole team. Emotions cannot be switched off, yet the way they are expressed shapes working relationships for a long time. Many professionals move between two dead ends: holding everything in until saturation, or reacting in the heat of the moment and regretting it afterwards.

This three-hour module focuses on your own emotions rather than those of others. Participants learn to identify them early through their own physical signals, then to delay their reaction long enough to choose a response. They also practise voicing discomfort or disagreement without attacking the person.

Learning objectives

  • Name precisely the emotion felt in a professional situation
  • Identify the physical signals that signal a rising emotion
  • Delay your reaction long enough to choose an appropriate response
  • Express disagreement or discomfort without attacking the person
  • Identify the underlying need behind a recurring emotion

What makes this programme different

An emotional vocabulary used to move beyond vague wording
Real situations replayed in pairs with immediate feedback
A pausing technique practised during the session
