An in-house lawyer receives a letter from a competent authority regarding an installation on the company's site. The terminology is unfamiliar. It is unclear whether the applicable rules stem from federal environmental legislation, from local emirate-level regulations, from planning requirements or from the conditions attached to an operating permit. Deadlines continue to run while the file circulates between departments.

Two days in-person or virtual to map out the subject. You identify the main categories of environmental regulatory control and the common logic behind them. You learn how to move from a situation on the ground to the applicable text. Finally, you pinpoint the areas where the liability of the company and its officers may be engaged.

Qualify before you reason

  • Common logic of permit, registration and notification regimes
  • Regimes covering water, regulated industrial facilities and waste
  • Interaction between several regimes applying to the same site
  • Respective powers of federal and local competent authorities

From siting to site restoration

  • Information and notification obligations during operations
  • Technical conditions and how they may be amended
  • Controls, inspections and administrative follow-up measures

Teaching methods
Theoretical input, workshops and practical case studies. Digital course materials and method sheets provided.
Assessment
Multiple-choice tests and role-play exercises. Assessment of learning at the start and end of the programme, with immediate and 60-day follow-up evaluations.
After the programme
One year of access to the e-learning platform. Self-assessment of the skills acquired and a 30-day follow-up session with your trainer.
