Description

Facilities Manager: Steering Decisions, Trade-Offs and Contracts

Holding a cross-functional role where every trade-off affects the budget, the service providers and occupant comfort

  • 0.75 days — 5.25 h
  • In-person or virtual
  • All levels
  • Up to 6 participants

The facilities manager absorbs requests from every department without a clear mandate. Cleaning, maintenance and security contracts are renewed without review, incidents are reported by email and budget overruns only come to light at year end.

These five hours of virtual training give a complete reading of the role. Participants define their scope, structure their relationship with service providers, build a defensible operating budget and organise the follow-up of occupant requests using simple indicators.

Learning objectives

  • Define the scope of the facilities function and its interfaces with other departments
  • Build an operating budget that separates recurring and exceptional spend
  • Draft a scope of work for a multi-service contract
  • Assess a service provider against measurable service commitments
  • Organise the intake and handling of occupant requests

What makes this programme different

A scope-of-work template is completed using a real contract brought by the participant
Service commitments are translated into verifiable indicators before signature
The budget is rebuilt line by line from the contracts currently in place
