Description
Human Resources: Positioning the Function, Managing Processes and Equipping Managers
Two days to build a coherent overview of HR processes and responsibilities
- 2 days — 14 h
- In-person or virtual
- Foundation
- Up to 6 participants
Taking on HR responsibilities without formal grounding in the discipline leads to reactive, case-by-case management. Administrative urgencies are handled without visibility of the wider process, managers are answered without a clear sense of where the HR role ends, and obligations are discovered only when they become pressing.
These 14 hours build a structured view of the function: the employee lifecycle, skills development, compensation and employee relations. Participants clarify how responsibilities are shared between HR and line managers. Each leaves with a map of the HR processes in their own organisation.
Learning objectives
- Describe the remit of the HR function and how it interacts with the management line
- Identify the stages of the employee lifecycle and the associated administrative actions
- Recognise the main obligations attached to personnel administration
- Position skills development processes within the HR annual cycle
- Explain the components of compensation and the principles used to steer them
- Identify employee relations stakeholders and their scope of involvement
