Description

Ikigai: Clarifying Your Drivers, Connecting Your Skills and Restoring Meaning at Work

Take a structured look at what genuinely motivates you in order to guide your professional choices with method

  • 2 days — 14 h
  • In-person or virtual
  • Foundation
  • Up to 6 participants

Professional weariness rarely sets in overnight. Tasks follow one another, skills go unused, and the link between daily work and what really matters gradually loosens. The question of changing roles is then raised in the wrong terms, when the real subject is personal drivers and the extent to which the current role draws on them or not.

Two days to explore the four dimensions of ikigai, take stock of your skills and preferences, identify the gaps with your current situation and translate the whole into concrete actions to be launched as soon as you return to work.

Learning objectives

  • Describe the four dimensions of the model and their points of intersection
  • Take stock of your actual skills and the activities that generate energy
  • Identify the gaps between your drivers and your current role
  • Formulate three to five actions that can be applied in your working environment

What makes this programme different

Guided individual work rather than a theoretical presentation of the concept
Paired interviews between participants to surface what you cannot see in yourself
A written and dated action plan handed to each participant at the end of day two

Programme

1Understanding the model

Four questions and how they intersect

  • Origin of the model and how to read it
  • What you enjoy doing and what you are good at
  • What your environment needs and what is paid for
  • Areas of overlap and areas of shortfall
  • Limits and reasonable uses of the model

2Taking your inventory

Measuring what you already have

  • Review of acquired and transferable skills
  • Activities that give or drain energy
  • Significant achievements across your career
  • Work values and non-negotiable conditions
  • Feedback received from your professional circle

3Measuring the gaps

Where the current role falls short

  • Mapping the activities of your current role
  • Share of activities aligned with your drivers
  • Real constraints and room for manoeuvre
  • Expectations of your working environment
  • Prioritising the gaps

4Moving to action

From findings to decisions

  • Levers within the current role and mobility levers
  • Formulating observable actions
  • Identifying the people to approach
  • Anticipating objections and obstacles
  • Review points at three and six months

Who is it for
