ISO 9001 Internal Quality Audit: Planning, Conducting and Reporting

Audit a quality management system against ISO 9001 requirements and write findings that hold up

In a certified organisation, internal audit prepares the ground for the certification audit and feeds the management review. Each finding must be tied to a specific requirement of the standard: an observation phrased as a personal opinion is challenged in the closing meeting and then dropped without action.

Two days to read the standard through an auditor's eyes, schedule audits across a cycle, conduct the audit according to the method and write findings the auditee cannot dismiss. A full mock audit is run during the session on a documented quality management system.

Reading the standard in order to question

Covering the system across a cycle

  • Build a multi-year audit programme

  • Appoint auditors and safeguard their impartiality
  • Draft the audit plan and circulate it to auditees

3Conducting the Audit On Site

Running the audit from start to finish

  • Lead the opening meeting
  • Conduct interviews and gather evidence
  • Trace an order from quotation to delivery to test the system
  • Adapt the sequence when the field diverges from the plan

4Findings, Report and Audit Follow-Up

Making findings stand up

  • Write a finding linked to a requirement and to evidence
  • Distinguish a non-conformity from an opportunity for improvement

Before the programme
Online positioning questionnaire. Your development objectives are shared with the trainer, who tailors the practical case studies to your context.
Teaching methods
Theoretical input, workshops and practical case studies. Digital course materials and method sheets provided.
Assessment
Multiple-choice tests and role-play exercises. Assessment of learning at the start and end of the programme, with immediate and 60-day follow-up evaluations.
After the programme
One year of access to the e-learning platform. Self-assessment of the skills acquired and a 30-day follow-up session with your trainer.
