Description

Leadership and Communication: Structure Your Message, Convince and Bring People With You

Two days to make sure your management communication finally lands the way you intend

  • 2 days — 14 h
  • In-person or virtual
  • Foundation
  • Up to 6 participants

The message was clear in your head. In the meeting it was misunderstood, in the one-to-one it came across as criticism, and in the follow-up note nobody retained the essential point. Managers spend a large part of their day speaking without always measuring what others actually take away.

This two-day programme focuses solely on the manager's communication: structuring a message, adapting it to the audience, listening for real and holding your ground in tense exchanges. Unlike work on managerial presence, everything here centres on what is actually exchanged.

Learning objectives

  • Structure a management message around one main idea supported by facts
  • Adapt your level of detail to the real needs of your audience
  • Practise active listening that brings out what a team member is not saying
  • Facilitate a team meeting and draw out those who stay silent
  • Respond to an objection raised in public without damaging the relationship

What makes this programme different

Each participant prepares and delivers three real situations drawn from their own role
Group feedback focused on what was understood rather than on style
Meeting and one-to-one preparation templates completed during the session

Programme

1Clarifying your message before speaking

Knowing what you want to achieve

  • Defining your intention and the outcome you expect
  • Building your message around one main idea
  • Selecting the facts that support the message
  • Removing what blurs the listener's attention

2Being understood by each audience

The same content is not delivered the same way

  • Reading the expectations and information level of your audience
  • Choosing between speaking, writing and informal exchange
  • Using concrete examples and images
  • Checking what has genuinely been understood

3Listening in order to draw people out

The silent side of a manager's communication

  • Open questions and useful follow-up prompts
  • Reformulation that moves the conversation forward
  • Spotting signals of unspoken disagreement
  • Handling silences in one-to-one discussions

4Holding your ground in a group and under pressure

Meetings, objections and remarks that sting

  • Opening and framing a team meeting
  • Sharing speaking time and drawing out quieter participants
  • Responding to an objection raised in front of everyone
  • Regaining control after an interruption

Who is it for

Managers, team leaders and heads of department who run meetings and conduct regular one-to-one discussions.
