Description

Leadership and Stagecraft Techniques: Presence, Persuasion and Engagement

One day to strengthen your presence in front of a group and build natural authority without forcing it

  • 1 day — 7 h
  • In-person or virtual
  • Foundation
  • Up to 6 participants

The substance of the message is solid, yet the room disengages. The voice rises at the end of each sentence. The eyes stay fixed on the notes and the hands look for something to hold. An important announcement goes unnoticed because nothing in the delivery gives it weight.

One day to work on the leader's raw material: the body, the voice and the gaze. You practise exercises drawn from stagecraft and apply them to your own professional speaking situations. You leave with concrete markers for opening a meeting, announcing a decision and holding your ground when interrupted.

Learning objectives

  • Steady your voice and your gaze to capture a group's attention
  • Occupy the space and adapt your posture to the message you carry
  • Structure a short intervention designed to mobilise a team
  • Use improvisation techniques to respond to an unexpected objection
  • Identify your dominant expressive register and broaden your range

What makes this programme different

Filmed exercises reviewed in small groups to measure the gap between intention and actual effect
Work based on your own professional speaking situations rather than on theatre scripts
A progression built on short exercises requiring no stage experience

Programme

1The body before the words

What your delivery says before the first sentence

  • Grounding and use of space in front of a group
  • Circular eye contact and the use of silence
  • Distracting gestures and identifying your physical anchors
  • Breathing and voice placement under pressure

2Delivering a message that engages

From intention to impact

  • Choosing a clear intention before each intervention
  • A short structure for announcing a decision or launching a project
  • Varying pace and volume to sustain attention
  • Adapting your register to the size of the group

3Improvising and holding your ground

Responding without losing the thread

  • Improvisation exercises applied to unexpected questions
  • Receiving an objection without becoming defensive
  • Regaining control after an interruption
  • Returning to the core message at the close of the exchange
