Description
Legal Design for the Legal Function: Clarify, Visualise and Roll Out
Making contracts and legal department memos genuinely readable for the people who use them
- 1 day — 7 h
- In-person or virtual
- Intermediate
- Up to 6 participants
A clause may be technically accurate and still protect no one if it cannot be understood. Operational teams sign without grasping the terms, work around the procedure or come back to the legal team with every question. The legal department then produces an ever-growing volume of documents whose real effect on behaviour remains limited.
This one-day programme applies legal design to the daily work of an in-house legal function. It starts from the actual readers of each document to rebuild the structure of the information, then introduces the visual tools suited to contracts, memos and internal procedures. Each participant reworks a document from their own scope and has its clarity tested by the group.
Learning objectives
- Identify the real needs of the readers of a legal document
- Restructure legal information according to how it will actually be used
- Rewrite a contractual clause in plain language without altering its legal effect
- Build a visual representation of a process or an obligation
- Test a document's clarity with its end users
- Roll out the approach across the legal department's recurring documents
