Description
Managerial Delegation: Preparing, Assigning and Following Up on Tasks
Assign work without losing control of the outcome or discouraging the people involved
- 2 days — 14 h
- In-person or virtual
- Foundation
- Up to 6 participants
A manager who does not delegate ends up handling personally the files they should be overseeing. Days fill up with execution and leading the team always comes last. Conversely, a task assigned without a clear framework comes back late or incomplete, and the manager concludes it would have been faster to do it alone.
These two days focus on the practical mechanics of delegation. Participants learn to identify what can be handed over, then to articulate the expected outcome and set proportionate checkpoints. Handling gaps and shortfalls is practised on real situations brought by the group.
Learning objectives
- Identify the activities within your remit that can be delegated
- Select the right team member for each assignment
- Frame a delegation by specifying the expected outcome and the room for manoeuvre
- Set up follow-up checkpoints proportionate to the stakes
- Address a gap or a delay without taking the assignment back
