Description

Managing Day to Day: Organising, Leading and Tracking Team Activity

Structure your management week so that leading the team no longer comes after the urgent matters

  • 2 days — 14 h
  • In-person or virtual
  • Foundation
  • Up to 6 participants

Front-line managers constantly arbitrate between their own output and the running of their team. One-to-one meetings get postponed and objectives remain implicit. The day ends with the feeling of having worked hard without having managed anything.

These two days are designed for managers already in post who want to regain control of their everyday practice. The work covers the organisation of the management week, then one-to-one meetings and the facilitation of team meetings. Taking up a management role for the first time is covered by a separate programme for new managers.

Learning objectives

  • Allocate time between personal output and management activities
  • Set individual objectives expressed in verifiable terms
  • Conduct a regular one-to-one meeting that is useful to both parties
  • Run a short and productive team meeting
  • Track activity using simple shared indicators
