Description
Operational Procurement Management: Organising the Function, Leading the Team and Reporting
Running a procurement function between internal client priorities and limited resources
- 2 days — 14 h
- In-person or virtual
- Foundation
- Up to 6 participants
Taking charge of a procurement function means making constant trade-offs: which tender to launch first, who to assign to which file, how to respond to the technical director who wants to keep a long-standing supplier. Without clear organisation or indicators, the department is driven by the flow of requests and ends up being judged on its incidents.
Two days to build the operational management toolkit: structuring the portfolio and priorities, distributing workload across the team, managing relationships with internal clients and building reporting that makes the contribution of procurement visible. The programme addresses the day-to-day running of the function rather than the definition of strategy.
Learning objectives
- Structure the procurement portfolio and the priorities of the function
- Distribute workload and files across the team
- Set observable individual objectives for buyers
- Manage relationships with internal clients and requesters
- Build procurement reporting that senior management can read easily
- Handle urgent requests without disrupting the department
