Description

Peer Learning: Launching, Running and Sustaining a Learner Community

Seven hours to create a peer exchange space that does not fall silent after a month

  • 1 day — 7 h
  • In-person or virtual
  • Intermediate
  • Up to 6 participants

A discussion space is opened at the end of the programme. A few thank-you messages circulate in the first week, then silence sets in. Know-how stays in each participant's head, the trainer remains the only source of answers, and the space is quietly closed six months later on the conclusion that it does not work.

These 7 hours address the conditions that keep a learner community alive. Participants define the purpose of their community, select rituals compatible with the working rhythm of members, organise content production by peers, and learn how to revive a space that has gone quiet.

Learning objectives

  • Define the purpose and scope of a learner community
  • Select facilitation rituals suited to the working rhythm of members
  • Encourage members themselves to produce content
  • Handle situations of silence, conflict or off-topic discussion
  • Monitor the vitality of the community through observable signals

What makes this programme different

A community charter drafted during the session and ready to apply on return to work
A quarterly facilitation calendar with its rituals and contributors
Analysis of real communities brought by participants, including those that died out
