Description

Project Awareness: Understanding Roles, Phases and How to Contribute Effectively

One day to understand how a project works and what is expected of you

  • 1 day — 7 h
  • In-person or virtual
  • Foundation
  • Up to 6 participants

Being asked to contribute to a project without knowing its codes is uncomfortable. Acronyms circulate. Documents pile up. Someone requests a workload estimate without explaining what it will be used for. The contributor discovers halfway through that their work was holding up three other people.

These 7 hours provide the shared reference points of working in project mode. Participants place the phases of a project in sequence, identify the roles around the table and understand what is expected of a contributor at each stage. A simple project is followed from the initial requirement through to closure to make the concepts tangible.

Learning objectives

  • Distinguish project activity from recurring activity
  • Place the main phases of a project and their deliverables
  • Identify the roles of the sponsor, the project manager and the contributors
  • Estimate your own workload and flag a variance in good time
  • Use the most common project documents

What makes this programme different

A simple project followed from requirement to closure throughout the day
Decoding the vocabulary and documents contributors actually encounter
A clear picture of what a project manager concretely expects from a contributor
