Description

Project Management Essentials: Scoping, Planning and Tracking

Two and a half days to acquire the core project manager toolkit and apply it to your own project

  • 2.5 days — 17.5 h
  • In-person or virtual
  • Foundation
  • Up to 6 participants

A first project handed over without a method ends up being run on instinct: the request is never written down, tasks pile up along the way and progress is measured by gut feeling. Problems surface at the very point when nothing can be corrected without pushing back the completion date.

This foundation level of seventeen and a half hours focuses on the core tools: project charter, task breakdown, milestone schedule and tracking dashboard. It prepares participants to take charge of a small-scale project, whereas the five-day programme also covers risk, budget and team leadership.

Learning objectives

  • Write a project charter covering the requirement scope and deliverables
  • Break the project down into tasks and estimate the effort involved
  • Build a milestone schedule based on identified dependencies
  • Set up a dashboard to track progress
  • Report progress to the project sponsor

What makes this programme different

Every participant leaves with the project charter and schedule for their own project
The toolkit is deliberately limited to what a small-scale project can sustain
Application time on the participant's own project is scheduled at the end of each half-day
