Description

RACI Matrix: Allocating Roles, Clarifying Decisions and Removing Bottlenecks

Know who delivers, who approves, who is consulted and who is informed for every project activity

  • 0.43 days — 3 h
  • In-person or virtual
  • Foundation
  • Up to 6 participants

On a cross-functional project, responsibilities tend to surface only when conflict arises. Two people have worked on the same deliverable. An approval is missing because no one knew they were the decision-maker. A department learns of a decision affecting it once it has already been taken. The schedule cannot fix this, because the issue lies with roles.

Three hours online to build a responsibility assignment matrix on a live project, then secure its approval. The session also addresses the situations that commonly cause difficulty, such as multiple approvers and roles left vacant because no owner has been designated.

Learning objectives

  • Distinguish the roles of delivery, approval, consultation and information
  • Break the project down into assignable activities
  • Build a complete responsibility assignment matrix for a project
  • Identify allocation anomalies such as multiple approvers
  • Secure approval of the matrix and use it throughout the project

What makes this programme different

The matrix is built on a project brought by the participants
Common allocation anomalies are diagnosed on real matrices
The approval process with line managers is prepared in advance
