Description

Recruitment Communication: Writing the Advert, Running the Interview and Responding

Two days to refine every exchange with candidates, from the first advertisement to the final response

  • 2 days — 14 h
  • In-person or virtual
  • Intermediate
  • Up to 6 participants

Candidates compare employers just as much as employers compare candidates. A generic job advertisement, an interview conducted without preparation or a rejection that is never sent all leave a lasting impression. Strong applications are lost for reasons of form alone.

This 14-hour programme is designed for professionals already responsible for recruitment. It focuses on the quality of exchanges at every stage: writing advertisements that genuinely describe the role, making first contact, conducting the interview, presenting the offer and wording rejections. All deliverables are produced using roles that are genuinely open in participants' organisations.

Learning objectives

  • Write an advertisement that describes the actual content of the role and its context
  • Conduct a telephone pre-qualification call
  • Run a structured interview based on behavioural questions
  • Present an offer while explaining compensation and career development elements
  • Word a reasoned rejection that shows respect for the candidate

What makes this programme different

A live advertisement is rewritten and then tested with the group acting as candidates
Practice with reticent candidates and over-prepared candidates
Rejection templates drafted and reviewed in session
