Description

SharePoint: Navigating Sites, Organising and Sharing Documents

Three hours to stop hunting for the latest version of a document in a folder structure nobody really controls

  • 0.43 days — 3 h
  • In-person or virtual
  • Foundation
  • Up to 6 participants

Team documents are scattered across the network drive, mailboxes and a few individual workstations. Three versions of the same file are in circulation and the correct one is held by the person who is away. A collaboration portal has been rolled out, yet everyone carries on as before because no one is sure what should be stored where.

These 3 hours provide the reference points needed to settle into the platform. Participants identify the logic behind sites and libraries, upload and organise documents using description columns, share files while setting the right permissions, and work with version history on a file that has been overwritten by mistake.

Learning objectives

  • Position the role of a collaboration portal in relation to other storage spaces
  • Navigate a team site and its document libraries
  • Upload and organise documents using description columns
  • Share a document by selecting the appropriate permission level
  • Restore a previous version of an amended document

What makes this programme different

A written filing rule drafted for the participant's own team
Recovery of an overwritten document carried out during the session
A clear distinction between what belongs on the portal and what stays elsewhere
