Description

Sustainability Reporting: Framing the Approach, Collecting Data and Drafting

Producing a robust sustainability report when the required information sits scattered across every department

  • 1 day — 7 h
  • In-person or virtual
  • Intermediate
  • Up to 6 participants

Sustainability reporting confronts an organisation with a very practical difficulty: the information expected rarely exists in a usable form. Social data sits in payroll, environmental data with the sites, governance elements with the corporate secretariat. Each team works with its own definitions and its own reporting boundaries.

One day to establish the method: understand the overall logic of sustainability reporting, carry out the priority issues analysis, organise data collection around shared definitions, then draft information that can be verified. Exercises are based on extracts from published reports.

Learning objectives

  • Position the sustainability report within the organisation's overall disclosure obligations
  • Conduct a priority issues analysis involving internal and external stakeholders
  • Define the reporting boundary and calculation rules for each published indicator
  • Organise data collection from contributing departments
  • Draft clear sustainability disclosures supported by evidence
  • Prepare the supporting documentation expected by the assurance provider
